ADS chairs many of the cross-ADRN working groups that ensure each part of the Network adheres to the same standards and coordinates their work to avoid duplicating efforts. There are such working groups for communication, public engagement, research support, training and capacity building, and outreach to researchers.
Policies and procedures
ADS took the lead in developing the policies and procedures for the ADRN, pulling together feedback from each of the ADRCs and ensuring the individuality of each ADRC was respected while maintaining ADRN-wide high standards for information security.
The Team maintain and review the Network’s policies and processes, including:
- project feasibility
- guidance documents
- breaches policy
- privacy impact
This work covers many areas, of which the above are just a few examples. The Team are responsible for ‘managed documents’ which set out and govern all our policies and procedures, to make sure the work of the ADRN is safe, secure and ethical. They also deal with any queries from research support staff at our Centres about network procedures and processes.
ADS set up the process for our independent and transparent Approvals Panel, and created its policies and procedures. These are regularly reviewed and updated. ADS provides:
- day-to-day coordination and administration
- recruitment of panel members
- secretariat and technical support
The Research support team prepares the research proposals that go to the Panel, and the Administrators minute the meetings. A member of the Research Support team also attends every meeting. They do not partake in the decision-making process.
