The Network checks researchers’ backgrounds to ensure that they
- are ‘fit and proper’
- have the necessary expertise to do the work (or, in the case of PhD students, have expert guidance available)
- are affiliated with a UK academic institution, government organisation or an independent research organisation eligible for RCUK funding
- have not previously been banned from using the Network or any affiliated organisations
Researchers also need to take a specialist training course that ensures they know how to handle sensitive data responsibly, ethically, lawfully and securely.
